Free Yard Sign Templates

Design Your Sign the Easy Way.

Start with the Right Template

Designing a yard sign does not have to be complicated. Our free templates give you the exact dimensions, bleed area, and safe zones for every sign size we offer. Open the template in your design software, add your text and graphics, and export. Your file is ready to print — no guesswork, no back-and-forth corrections, no wasted time.

Templates prevent the most common file issues we see: signs designed at the wrong dimensions, text placed too close to the edge that gets trimmed off, and backgrounds that do not extend to the bleed line (leaving a white border where the cut happens). Starting with our template means none of those things happen. Your sign looks exactly the way you designed it.

If this is your first time designing a sign, a template is the fastest way to get it right. If you have done it before, it is the fastest way to skip the setup and get straight to the creative work.

Templates for Every Product

We offer free templates for all the sign products we print:

Yard signs — 12x18 inch (compact), 18x24 inch (most popular), and 24x36 inch (maximum visibility). Each template includes stake pocket placement guides so your design accounts for where the wire stake clips onto the sign. Banners — popular sizes from 2x4 feet to 3x8 feet with grommet spacing and hem allowance guides. Car magnets — standard 12x18 and 12x24 inch sizes with rounded corner guides and magnetic-safe area markings. A-frame inserts — sized to fit standard sidewalk A-frame hardware.

Templates are available in Adobe Illustrator (.ai), Photoshop (.psd), and PDF formats. If you use a different design program like Canva or Google Slides, the PDF template shows you the exact dimensions and safe margins to match in your application.

Simple Design Tips for Outdoor Signs

Yard signs are read from a distance — from the sidewalk, from a car driving by, from across a parking lot. That means your design needs to be bold, simple, and easy to read in a few seconds.

Use large text. For key information like a name, phone number, or event date, letters should be at least 3 inches tall on an 18x24 sign. Stick to two or three high-contrast colors — dark text on a light background is the most readable combination. Avoid thin fonts, small text, and detailed graphics that will not be visible from more than a few feet away.

For file setup, use 150 DPI at full size — that produces sharp prints on corrugated plastic. Design in CMYK color mode for accurate colors. Keep all important text and logos inside the safety margin shown in the template.

When your design is done, export as a PDF and upload through our ordering system. We review every file for free and let you know if anything needs adjusting before we print.
